ssignment 1: Boot Camps

ssignment 1: Boot Camps

Boot camps are sanctions based on shock incarceration grounded in military techniques. The basic idea behind boot camps is that its forced labor and “tough-love” components will instill a sense of discipline and self-motivation in the juveniles that will carry on past the initial boot camp experience.

Despite their popularity, there is little evidence to show that boot camps are effective. Some studies also suggest that boot camps may cause more harm than good.
