Write a 5-7 page essay answering one of the following two questions:
Question 1: In antiquity, the gods were both among and without from humans and were often capricious, prone to jealousy, and quite dangerous; what do you think these images mean about the people who told such stories and believed in (or at least imagined) such deities?
Question 2: Throughout world literature, we see women of various backgrounds, classes, abilities, and powers depicted; what picture emerges about the places for women in ancient societies and how does this image reflect and/or differ from our society today?
